In popular culture, the Bro Code is a friendship etiquette to be followed among men or, more specifically, among members of the bro subculture. Katherine Connor Martin, head of content creation at Oxford Dictionaries , recognized Stinson as "the quintessence of a certain iteration of the contemporary bro". The notion of an unwritten set of rules that govern the relationship between male friends is present in popular culture at least since In the Seinfeld episode " The Stranded ", which aired on November 27 that year, Jerry Seinfeld says the following monologue, in one of his stand-up bits:.

The Bro Code. Everyone's life is governed by an internal code of conduct. Some call it morality. Others call it religion. The Bro Code is a living document, much like the Constitution. Except instead of outlining a government, or the Bill of Rights, or anything even resembling laws, The Bro Code provides men with all the rules they need to know in order to become a "bro" and behave properly among other bros. Historically a spoken tradition passed from one generation to the next and dating back to the American Revolution, the official code of conduct for Bros appears here in its published form for the first time ever.
By upholding the tenets of this sacred and legendary document, any dude can learn to achieve Bro-dom. Containing approximately "unspoken" rules, this code of conduct for bros can range from the simple bros before hos to the complex the hot-to-crazy ratio, complete with bar graphs and charts. With helpful sidebros The Bro Code will help any ordinary guy become the best bro he can be.
Let ultimate bro and coauthor Barney Stinson and his book, The Bro Code share their wisdom, lest you be caught making eye contact in a devil's three-way two dudes, duh. Review Text Do your buddies know "The Code"? He lives in Los Angeles, California.
Rating details. Our customer reviews You really need to have a sense of humour to read this. I personally loved this book, because I also watch the show associated, I'm not plugging so if you know what show I'm talking about Anyone who does watch aforementioned unnameable show will know who Barney is and how funny he is, and this book reflects his character personality perfectly.
It's sexist, chauvinistic, idiotic, completely fake, and absolutely hilarious. I think the scariest part about this book is its accuracy; there are quite a few rules in this book that I know men follow, some unconsciously. And for those that just can't get enough of Barney's voice, he narrated the audio version.
I gave this book two ratings. The five was for those who watch the show and love Barney as much as I do. The three was for general readers, if you have a chance to read it, read it. So that averages it out at a four. Which I think it definitely deserves. For those you have fallen in love with the Tv Show "How I meet your Mother" this book is a great complement. Quick read and very funny. It gives you another in site for the tv show.
