Discussion Maximum Golf. What to search discussions comments questions answers polls groups. I must say I hit the ball as solid and effortless as I ever have. I was curious if anyone has anything to say about Maximum golf and or John Schlee? Posted: Aug 22 PM.
Comments I've read this book twice now but have not been to the range except on the course once. Big loss that John is no longer with us. I think this book is worth it's weight in gold. Always wanted it, some good stuff from excerpts I've read.
His swing thoughts are informative and he tells it like it is. I take him as a very honest teacher of the swing. I do think if you want to learn what Hogan thought of the swing, John's info is the best out there. Posted: Oct 15 PM. What great insight into Hogan's game. Hogan they way they did. Unlike a lot of golf books it came across as quite personal. It's quite 'arty' in the way it reads which is refreshing. Lots of under-rated books out there I think Nick Price's book is v good and this is one. I think the approach to planning and playing a shot is great and would help a lot of people that get too 'tight' before a shot. I think the description of dead hands, inert, and trying not to let the wrists uncock clears the fog for people that mis-apply 'holding lag' to the extreme. I wish I had the tape because I've seen one clip on you tube and his swing looks extremely athletic.
And are worth the money alone. Posted: Aug 03 AM. LYG wrote:. Posted: Aug 03 PM. Even then I recognized the elements of Ben Hogan's swing. It was like seeing someone who had learned how to golf from 5 lessons. Really hit the ball solid. Hogan taught Mahaffery was about mental and mainly course management. To me, it is very hard to pull the trigger and start the swing feels awkward but you hit many pure shots from there. Kind of a magic drill, in my mind.
