Karl Brugger , Munich — January 3, , Rio de Janeiro was a German foreign correspondent for the ARD network and author,  best known for his book The Chronicle of Akakor about the alleged lost city of Akakor that was published in Brugger was born in Munich and studied journalism  and contemporary history there and in Paris. Brugger had later moved to Brazil. Brugger was shot down in Rio de Janeiro on 3 January , after being shot several times. It was also believed that his murder was said to be a robbery, but it now believed not to be,  as nothing was said to have been taken from Brugger.

Just google "Tatunca Nara" and read some of the stories; the man is not an Indian chief entrusted with the secrets of a lost civilization.

I would go as far as to say that aspects of the make-believe story in the book are quite fascinating.
Gods came from "the sky," instructed the first humans, left some mysterious apparatus behind, and disappeared again "into the sky. Also, the assertion that certain parts of South America are riddled with artificial subterranean passages cannot shock the expert. I wanted to read this book 12 years ago and it was out of print in Europe. To add more mystery to Akakor in me, at that time i read from one or two italian-german bloggers that the author Karl Brugguer was shot to death while walking on the beach in Brazil.
This story was made up by a german named Hansi Richard Gunther Hauck who abandoned his boring life in Europe to become Tatunca Nara; a half breed invented german-amazonian indian.
