Evaluation of fungicidal activity and identification of volatile organic compounds released by Trichoderma viride. Profesora Asociada. The secondary metabolites produced by fungi widely vary in structure and function, providing a rich source of biologically active compounds with applications in farming, pharmacology and food processing. Volatile organic compounds VOCs are a biologically relevant class of secondary metabolites, since they are suspected of playing a crucial role in the communication between microorganisms.

In this work, we use a test headspace chamber to evaluate the VOCs mediated antifungal activity of T. We observed that VOCs produced by T. All three techniques identified benzyl alcohol, 2-phenylethyl alcohol, 6-pentyl-2H-pyranone and, for the first time associated to T.

After comparison between these extraction techniques, we established that DHS provides the most accurate simulation of biological activity in the test chamber, which reflects in a reliable identification of the VCOs with antifungal activity.

The present work describes, in a synthesized way, the implementation and application of procedures based on the normativity related to the subject of the volatile organic compounds Volatile Organic Compounds VOC , that allow to sample, quantify and evaluate the present contamination in the working atmosphere of a refinery due to the fugitive emissions of VOC and other substances. In accordance with the corresponding normativity, more than organic compounds denominated dangerous air polluting agents Hazardous Air Pollutants, HAP can be found in a working atmosphere, but they are the 11 main HAP that can be found in a refinery. In the present article the work made for the sampling and quantification of 5 of the 11 dangerous polluting agents of the air: benzene, toluene, xylene, iso-octane and naphthalene.
