First, I have to say that this was an amazing book! The only reason it took me a little longer to read was because I found it a little difficult to get into at the beginning. My favorite part of this novel is the relationship between the two main characters Caidence Harris and Robyn Ward. I found that their relationship was different then most lesbian fiction relationships. They are both actresses and we follow the relationship that blooms between them.

They definitely go through challenges throughout the book, which make the story more interesting. The only question I have about this novel is if there will be a sequel? How the story ends could definitely keep it open to a sequel, I would love to see the rest of their story and how they handle their relationship, especially being in the spotlight.

I also looked online and cannot find any other work by K. Lane or if there is a future project in the works. Does anyone have any information about that? What are your thoughts on this novel? Can you see there being a sequel? Would you like the see a sequel? In fact, I was reading it now and wondered if anyone else had heard about more books by K. But I definitely would enjoy a sequel. I consider K. Lane a great author that should get more recognition.

I would even love it if there was a movie for the book. Also, for some reason, whenever I read this story I always picture Mariska Hargitay as Caidence for some reason or at least someone with similar features.

I suggest you read any of the books by J. Lee Meyer. I got most if not all of her books and love them! For the longest time I was comparing other books from the way they were written, to character depth, to pretty much the flow of everything and see how they compared to Playing the Role. None of them even came close until I found J. Check out her site for yourself.

I know it did for me. Well I hope you continue blogging about the books you find. I recently finished the Elite Operative series and will blog about that in my next post. I love your comparison between Caidence and Mariska Hargitay! Would love to see more from this writer! If Lana Parrilla were taller or Robyn shorter, that would be a perfect match.

The eyes, the voice, the legs…. I wish there were more movie adaptations of lesbian fiction novels but unfortunately there are few out there!! I often find myself wishing there were more movies out there and wondering who would play certain characters!

She also writes as Dabkey. Lederhosen and its sequel are fun reads. You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Google account. And Playing the Role of Herself

Caid has finally accepted the idea that she is a lesbian and that she is attracted to Robyn, but she doesn't think she can act on her feelings. Caid's fascination with Robyn grows each time that they appear in a show together, but she thinks the situation is hopeless until Liz proposes the idea that a lesbian storyline should be introduced into the series and the producer picks Caid and Robyn for the roles. As the women are brought together more and more, a friendship develops and Caid realizes that the relationship Robyn and Josh share has advantages for both of them, but romance isn't one of them. Caid believes she can make a life with Robyn, but complications abound. Both women are deeply in the closet to protect their careers. They have to sneak around to see each other, which isn't easy for people who are constantly being followed by the paparazzi. They can't confide in friends, family or co-workers when their own self-doubts threaten to destroy the relationship.
