Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon. Verified Purchase. An informative addition to my classroom library. My students loved it. Amazing artwork! This is a beautiful book for anyone who loves Ancient Egypt. It's also a thought-provoking story, considering the transience of a woman's beauty.
I loved the rhythmic language, and especially the amazing illustrations. A wonderful addition to any bookshelf! I bought the book for my mummy unit and I cut it up to use as a narrative input story - works well. Illustrations are beautiful and the story is written well. Fun to hear a mummy story from a different point of view. I love picture books for children. I have collected them for years.
The term 'for children' is a little incorrect. Everyone can love them, and this book is no exception. The prose is lyrical, though melancholy, and it could stand alone. The illustrations, however, take the cake. David Christensen will check and correct is famliar to me. The colors, the forms, the mood, all are wonderful, lyrical, satisfying. I can't easily picture a kid who would appreciate even a quarter of all the subtlety packed into this thin book, and I'm not sure I'd want to meet a kid who did.
But Oh! For adults, what a haunting, utterly unforgettable treat! This is a book full of color and joy, and yet it's one of the single saddest books I've read in English - and the entire spectrum presented with no fanfare or folderol whatsoever.
When you read it out loud - and I feel pretty sure you will - be sure to pause a little extra for the last page. Go to Amazon. Back to top. Get to Know Us. Shopbop Designer Fashion Brands. Alexa Actionable Analytics for the Web. DPReview Digital Photography.

I AM THE MUMMY HEB-NEFERT
The favored, beautiful daughter of a nomarch dances one evening for the pharaoh's brother, Ti. Soon she is a cherished wife, interrupting her idyllic existence only to revisit the home in which she once lived. Her parents are gone, but a house snake, set to catch grain-thieving mice, remains. Who could tell?
