In the Psalms are expressed and interwoven with joy and suffering, the longing for God and the perception of our own unworthiness, happiness and the feeling of abandonment, trust in God and sorrowful loneliness, fullness of life and fear of death.

The font works great with it. The book is bound on black cloth hardcover, stamped with a gold JHS monogram at the center. I seriously think that these kind of book covers easily wears off on frequent use, so I bought a padded breviary cover for it. The lay-out is very convenient and user-friendly.
I placed a one-peso coin to help approximate its font size. There is a lot more to this breviary than just the Divine Office itself. The Appendix features prayers for the priest to say as thanksgiving before and after Mass, various litanies, prayers, Sacraments, blessings, and other rites that a priest may use if circumstances need it.
Every priest who sticks to the Extraordinary form must one of these. I have had a good time praying with it. Months of daily use and it is still looking pretty new. Over-all, I rate this breviary a 9 out of It is highly recommendable, user-friendly, and it is simple.
Very convenient for clerics and lay people alike. You can buy a similar breviary from the Fraternity of S. His reviews helped me determine the right breviary to buy and the Diurnale has not disappointed me. I hope sometime there could be a nocturnale for the Office of Matins. I have read that the Monks at Barroux are preparing such.
I had been extra busy for these past few months; academic loads, responsibilities for my other religious organizations, and the like. Now, I think that these books are a treat for accomplishing a great deal of work!

BTW, I had my first Aklat ng Pagmimisa sa Roma way back in 30 November but that edition is somewhat inferior to the current one printed in early The previous printing is printed on bible paper aka onion skin paper , it has no tabs because of the type of paper used and it is unlike all the altar missals of the whole Catholic world.
Its cover is maroon with the image of Christ Pantocrator on the front. Yes, portable but it compromised a lot of things. The current version is somewhat better. Practising devotion to the Sacred Heart of Christ therefore means adoring that Heart which, after having loved us to the end, was pierced by a spear and from high on the Cross poured out blood and water, an inexhaustible source of new life. With pages, the book measures 6 inches x 3. The cover is imprinted with the illustration of the Sacred Heart and the anchor which symbolizes hope.

I was opened to the Divine Office way back in and our former parish priest gave me his edition of the Tagalog Breviary as a graduation gift. That became my first breviary. So since that year, I have been praying the Hours. I began to learn using the Little Office. It was a whole new experience. Through this, I learned to pray the Older Office.
I saw what parts were revised and what were left intact. This little book in my collection serves bridged me to the Old Rite and it also serves as a testament of friendship.
This book may be one of the smallest and shortest in my liturgical book collection but it is one of the most precious and beloved book from my humble collection. All over the Missal are notes for prayers or pious acts wherein one can gain an indulgence plenary or partial — so to speak. One example are these set of notes explaining how can we gain indulgences by meditating on the sufferings of Our Blessed Lord.
Gallican prefaces are not yet included. The Ordo Missae is laid out in a manner wherein cut in prayers are avoided whenever possible. Latin is given at the left side of the missal, wherein its English translation is placed on the right part. The pages of the Ordo Missae shows signs of frequent use such as the heavy discoloration of its pages. It is not a big problem since I personally like it when books show their age, as long as it is still usable.
I think it adds more to the visuals of a book. The Canon does not contain S. After the Ordo Missae section, the prayers after Communion are given. In some missals, this section is found in the front. The Common of Saints follows the prayers after Communion. Feast of the Apparition of S. Stephen, S. Peter in Chains, etc. Another interesting note for S. Given also are the Nuptial Service and the Masses for the Dead. Afterwards, the Various devotions are placed near the end of the missal.
The Stations of the Cross are the last devotions that are incorporated at this missal. The book edges are first painted with red before being gilded in gold.
Therefore, when the missal is open, the edges are reddish, but when it is closed, the book edges are gold. Some people find these features interesting. It sports five raised bands in the spine.
